Drakensberg Amphitheatre Hike - 3 days
Our guided Drakensberg Amphitheatre hike is an overnight experience on the splendid Amphitheater, 2 nights of camping in the Northern Drakensberg with spectacular views, clear rivers & rugged mountains. Take in the summit of Mont-Aux-Sources and the top of the Tugela falls.
EXPLORING THE DRAKENSBERG AMPHITHEATRE
We head up onto The Mont-Aux-Sources-Plateau, climbing the famous chain ladders to get there & set up camp along the bank of the Elands River. While we prepare dinner, you can relax & enjoy the sunset over the Maluti Mountains.
The following day we hike to the highest point on the Northern Drakensberg Escarpment, Mont-Aux-Sources 3282m with its commanding views of the Amphitheatre and the plateau riddled with streams far below. We descend to our second night’s camp on the Amphitheatre plateau.
We visit the Famous Tugela Falls with magnificent views of the Amphitheatre & Devil’s Tooth. Have a dip in the mountain pools just above the falls before following the Tugela River towards its source, descending past the imposing Sentinel Peak.
