Guided Tsitsikamma trails- 3 to 5 days

Hiking in the Tsitsikamma National Park in magical. We offer the challenging 5 day Tsitsikamma Trail traversing much of the Tsitsikamma mountains but also a 3 day combination of Tsitsikamma walking trails and canoeing*  Join us to hike in Natures Valley & Salt River, the dramatic coast at Storms River Mouth & the  peaceful Keurbooms River. *Canoeing is optional

The Tsitsikamma hike runs from Natures Valley to Storms River Village through the heart of Tsitsikamma Mountains & Tsitsikamma Forest.

The Tsitsikamma Trail is beautiful and varied and has a remote feel to it as there is seldom anyone else in the vicinity, the huts have been exceptionally well located, along scenic rivers with deep pools to relax in, on top of cliffs overlooking dramatic gorges, at the fringe of the forest or overlooking the mountains.

We end the trail with a night at Storms River Mouth. The spectacular scenery of the Stroms River National Park is a fitting end to the beautiful hike through Tsitsikamma

GoVertical offers the options of backpacking on the Tsitsikamma trail, ie you carry all your gear from hut to hut or you can choose the  slackpacking option where your luggage is transferred between huts on the Tsitsikamma Trail.

Salt River Walk & Kalanderkloof Hike

The Kalander kloof hike takes you from Natures Valley Lagoon through a forested gorge where giant Outeniqua Yellow woods form a canopy high above the trail and up onto escarpment covered in fynbos.

We merge with the Salt River trail heading towards the ocean and the beautiful Salt River estuary. Clear tea coloured water (a natural tannin stain from the forest) gurgles in the river as white beach sand meets turquoise waves between the densely vegetated coastal heads.

Keurbooms Canoe Trail

The 2nd day is a paddle along Keurbooms River near Plettenberg Bay. Below the cliffs, the  cola coloured water meanders along forested shores &  sandy beaches. NOTE- As an alternative to paddling, we are happy to substitute this day with a splendid Tsitsikamma walking trail.

Storms River Bridge Walk & Waterfall hike

The suspension bridge walk at Storms River Mouth is a dramatic short walk to where turquoise Indian ocean & the dark Storms River meet. After which we do the Waterfall hike to a plunge pool at the base of the falls is a natural rim pool that empties directly into the ocean. You can swim in the cool clear waters and enjoy a picnic on the sunny rocks with the most beautiful views!
