From the platinum rich area of Rustenburg in the West the Magaliesberg sweeps Eastward past Cullinan, best known for being home to the largest rough diamond ever found. The Cradle of humankind is located at the base of the Magaliesberg where excavations of the dolomite cave network have uncovered the the famous fossilised remains of our ancestors – Australopithecus

Johannesburg has hot summers with dramatic thunderstorms and cold crisp dry winters. Typically you can expect:

SPRING- September, October, Mild temperatures in the 20’s and short spring showers. The dry veld bursts into vibrant greens – overnight!

SUMMER- November to March. It’s hot by December, daytime temps are often over 30 and you can expect some thunderstorms to be short, sharp and spectacular.

AUTUMN -April and May. Stable crisp weather with typical autumn colours. Temps in the 20’s (Celcius) Still warm enough to enjoy the great outdoors.

WINTER – There’s a saying that after Easter it’s Winter, it’s normally right for JHB. Days are clear and dry, temps can reach the 20’s, nights are cold – close to zero.
